Description
The Quality Engineer will help support a comprehensive quality assurance program for the design and manufacture of electronic power systems. Reporting to the Quality Manager and collaborating with the broader quality assurance team, the Quality Engineer will lead initiatives aimed at continuous improvement, ensuring products meet the highest industry standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain efficient manufacturing processes to achieve or exceed company objectives.
- Ensure compliance with production methods and industry standards (AS9100, ISO9001, IPC, etc.).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and resolve quality issues, employing mistake-proofing and root-cause analysis techniques (e.g. 5 whys, fishbone diagram, pareto chart, etc.).
- Interface with internal and external teams to address supplier non-conformance issues.
- Assist with visual inspections of incoming parts or work-in-progress by means of instruments, gages, jigs, templates or other measuring devices to ensure adherence to specifications, drawings, etc.
- Create documentation such as quality bulletins, process specifications, supplier corrective action reports, internal corrective action reports, failure report analyses, etc.
- Provide ongoing quality and process training to associates.
- Support internal and external quality audits.
- Uphold and promote company and OSHA safety standards at all times.
- Support customer calls, meetings, and visits as needed.
- Support all other quality tasks as needed.
Requirements
- US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status required.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of related quality experience.
- Ability to achieve and maintain industry certifications - IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-J-STD-001 SPACE, and IPC-610.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CAD software.
- Excellent time management with the ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of conveying complex information clearly.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to demonstrate visual acuity.
- Positive demeanor and outlook.
- A creative mind with a desire to suggest improvements and new ideas.
Preferred, But Not Required:
- Knowledge of AS9100, ISO9001, and IPC requirements.
- Knowledge of / certification in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma.
- Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis tools.
- Knowledge of ASME drafting standards, particularly GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Experience working with metal parts (aluminum, formed sheet metal) and circuit card assemblies.
- Ability to travel within the continental United States on an average of 2-5 days per year (e.g. offsite audits, training, etc.).
