SUMMARY POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The plant safety coordinator provides technical safety and health support to operations personnel. Ensures plant safety and health programs and objectives are followed. Coordinates safety training programs. Monitors safety and health regulations and provides technical support to operations personnel to ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing a continuous physical presence throughout the facility on a daily basis engaging departments and employees in identifying safety issues and improvements
- Responding to employee and department manager questions and requests regarding safety
- Working with the Corporate Safety Coordinator and other manufacturing plant safety personnel to ensure consistent application of safety guidelines
- Maintaining a schedule of safety training for new and existing employees
- Conducting and/or supervising routine classroom training
- Assist in the quarterly Departmental Wellness Inspections and updating the Corporate Safety Coordinator on open Action Items
- Sit in Departmental Safety Meetings to embrace departmental safety leaders and drive conversation
- Perform daily contractor evaluations and personnel safety questionnaires
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management, safety engineering, occupational environment health and safety, or a related field
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Working knowledge of safety rules and regulations at all levels of government, including federal and state
- Experience in industrial safety and employee training
- Relative working experience conducting safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with occupational and environmental health and safety requirements; exposure to employee training programs; and maintaining complete safety and training records
