Summary

Checks books and materials in and out; assists patrons; shelves books; and assists with opening and closing library.

The pay rate is $10.00 per hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Checks books and materials in and out of library for patrons;
  • Assists patrons with general questions and with operation of copier, microfilm reader, printer, and computer, including Internet;
  • Shelves books, magazines and newspapers;
  • Collects money for library service fees and late fines;
  • Generates lists of overdue books and materials and reminds patron of overdue items;
  • Assists with opening and closing library.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This is non-supervisory position.

Education and/or Experience

High school education or its equivalent, library experience preferred or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Knowledge Of

Library classification systems; and standard office practices and procedures.

Skill/Ability To

Operate computers, including word processing and spreadsheet software; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public; provide excellent customer services; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and read and interpret manuals, policies, and other documents.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Texas driver’s license.
