Summary

The part-time Line Service Technician provides professional, efficient, and safe customer service to tenants, transient clients, and all visitors at the Brenham Municipal Airport. Performs a variety of operations and general maintenance duties related to the daily airport operations, aircraft fueling operations, and airport maintenance operations.

Pay rate is $18.00 per hour.

Part-time is defined as 20 hours per week or less, and less than 1000 hours annually; work hours include rotating schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides quality customer service, communicates with the general public and all users of the airport in order to facilitate daily operations and special events at the airport;
  • Performs line service duties for incoming aircraft to include marshalling, refueling, lavatory servicing, towing, trash removal, etc.;
  • Fuels aircraft in accordance with ATA 103 and NFPA fuel quality control standards;
  • Tops off fuel trucks and completes fuel farm paperwork;
  • Performs concierge services, by assisting pilots with aircraft pre and post flight services including arranging transportation, hotel booking, catering, planeside valet services, courtesy car usage and catering to customer requirements;
  • Performs front desk duties to include answering phones, creating invoices, receiving payments, managing inventory, and maintaining records;
  • Understands and follows all standard operating procedures to maintain a safe work environment;
  • Promptly reports emergency situations to designated parties and implements safety response procedures;
  • Maintains and provides general grounds maintenance at the Brenham Municipal Airport including but not limited to changing light bulbs, replacing reflectors, operating mowers, weed eaters, and other equipment in maintaining the airport as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This is a non-supervisory position.

Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience

High school graduation or its equivalent; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Customer service experience preferred, and one year's work experience as an aviation line technician is preferred.

Knowledge Of

Airport Fueling Operations, basic properties of aviation fuels, fueling safety practices, inspections and record keeping, and the safe and proper handling, dispensing, and storage of Aircraft Fuel in accordance with FAA Advisory Circular 150/5230-4C. Knowledge of methods, practices, equipment, and materials used in grounds and facility maintenance; safe operation of hand and electrical tools preferred; knowledge of the safe and proper operation of equipment including safety standards to prevent hazards. Knowledge of how to operate zero-radius riding mower, herbicide spray equipment, utility tractor with batwing shredder, aircraft tug, fuel trucks, and aircraft power cart. Skilled in safe operation of the equipment used and of the provisions of the Texas Motor Vehicle Code relating to operation of heavy and light motorized equipment.

Skill/Ability To

Operate equipment used in aircraft handling and fueling as well as ground and facility maintenance; service and make minor repairs on equipment; apply safety standards to prevent hazards; understand and follow instructions; tolerate working outdoors, day, night and in all weather conditions, including exposure to adverse weather, stepping up/down ladders, tugs, and fuel trucks. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public; and maintain Texas driver's license applicable to job responsibilities.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Texas driver's license required. Must hold a National Air Transportation Association (NATA) Safety 1st Line Service Tech certification or be able to able to attend training and pass the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) Safety 1st Line Service Tech certification within 3 months of hire.

The employee frequently is required to work under time pressures to meet deadlines, to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and to work closely with others as part of a team. The work environment is noisy and distracting.
