Description
The Driver will support regularly scheduled weekly trips to the Fort Worth and Houston areas using a Mercedes Sprinter van or pickup truck. Weekly trips include the drop off and pick up of metal items from several metal finishing facilities. The Driver will be responsible for ensuring accurate delivery and maintaining proper documentation.
This is a Part-Time position (estimated 10-15 hours per week).
HDL Research Lab builds power electronics for the defense and aerospace industry. Part-Time employees will be paid on a weekly basis and may elect to pay for Dental and Vision insurance.
- Support weekly trips to Forth Worth and Houston. Fort Worth trips are scheduled for Wednesdays and Houston trips are scheduled for Fridays. Trips may include early mornings or evenings based on business needs.
- Help load and unload parts from the van before and after trips, ensuring items are handled with care and properly secured during transit. Use of a forklift may be required for loading and unloading.
- Verify the accuracy of deliveries by reviewing paperwork and ensuring the correct parts are delivered to the appropriate suppliers.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs for the van promptly.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company safety policies during transport.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with suppliers.
- Support additional trips as needed for extra ordinary pick ups or drop offs outside of the normal Wednesday and Friday scheduled drives.
Requirements
- US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. CDL driver’s license is not required.
- 1+ years of experience with professional long-distance driving.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs.
- Experience operating a forklift is preferred but not required.
